Undergraduate Students

Rylan Moore is an undergraduate at Murray State University and is SUPERB scholar and Honors student. He is interested in evaluating rapid floristic quality assessments in Kentucky wetlands. He is an avid angler and loves being outdoors, gardening, backpacking, looking at plants, and climbing trees.

Talon Gower is a SUPERB scholar at Murray State and is interested in florisitcs. He assisted with data collection for the Kentucky wetlands FQI and indicator species project. Talon enjoys being in nature, looking at plants, hunting, and fishing. The picture shows Talon (left) and Rylan picking leeches off of their legs at a wetland in western Kentucky.

Stacey Murray was an undergraduate student at Northeastern State University where she used field experiments to study interactions of vegetation structure and dragonfly emergence. She presented a poster at undergraduate research day at NSU and published a portion of her findings. Stacey enjoys hunting, skinning deer, and cooking venison.

Jana Green assisted with the Oklahoma wetlands project and worked on FQI and taxonomic distinctness as an undergraduate student. She is currently a graduate student at NSU exploring dispersal of small mammals among riverine systems at the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge.

Jonathan Orr assisted with plant species identifications for several different projects. He is now a noxious-weed manager in New Mexico.

Kirk Kuykendall assisted with field work on a few different projects. He loves botany and is especially interested in Native American ethnobotany and the use of plants by his ancestors.

Colby Roof (left) worked on an ethnobotany project documenting the organic farming practices of Hmong farmers in northeastern Oklahoma. Colby now works as a lead plant grower at a medical Cannabis farm.

Graduate Students

Tommi Fouts is a former Master's student from NSU. She just completed her thesis on wetland plant indicator species and reference floristic quality in the southern plains. She published some of her work in Conservation Science and Practice and is working on publishing her next chapter. Tommi is very passionate about the environment and loves to visit wetlands and look for cool plants.

Mounica Talassia is a graduate student of Agronomy at Murray State University. She assisted with summer field work on the Kentucky wetland project. Mounica loves to read, sketch, and explore new places.

Jonathan Sullivan was a former graduate student at NSU. He worked on nesting success of snowy plovers in response to edge effects and woody invasion (Tamarix spp.) in the Great Salt Plains National Wildlife refuge. He enjoys talking to people, being outdoors, and hunting.
